The importance of shared vision

A clear and shared purpose to rally around a collaboration.

“The thing that has been shown time and again to motivate participation… is a clear and shared purpose. If people involved share a purpose and share clearly stated values, that tends to create and sustain a desire for participation in an issue.” – Jon Husband

This need is amplified when working with distributed and diverse participants over the web, where miss-communications are common.

“Because web 2.0 is such an unstructured medium and the possibilities are not really bounded by anything other than what you can build, it’s incredibly important to get people on the same page around a shared vision of what will happen.” – Dan Munz
